And Then There Were Goats.

On New Year’s Day this year our family gathered around the long farm table that takes up our entire dining room.

(That somehow seems like a long time ago.)

And we made a big old list of goals for 2015.

Of course we wrote them on a chalkboard door in our house because that’s what we do.

We’re not exactly breezing through the list this year but we have conquered an item or two – such as visit the ocean and build a bigger chicken coop.

Last weekend we were able to check off another item on the list.

And – it might be my favorite so far.

You guys.

Last week we added a couple of creatures to the menagerie that is our pseudo-sort-of-farm here at Wildwood.

Goats!

(I wanted to use all capitals there but that seemed excessive.)

Goats!  Goats!  Goats!

Oh my goodness – they are just too cute for words.  Like – the kind of cute that makes you feel like you are five years old again and the only thing you have to worry about is whether you get an extra hour to play before bedtime and if your mom will give you a popsicle or not.

Their adorablity is off the charts.  They prance.  They leap.  The even chew the grass in an irresistible manner.

We bought two – since goats are social creatures.

And we named them, of course.

The kids named one Prince Caspian.

I made an official decree that I was allowed to choose one goat’s name entirely by myself as it seems animals around here keep getting named without my input and well, I’m the mom, so I made the rule.

I chose Henry David Thoreau.

We are in love with them.

They drink from a bottle right now and it’s just too funny to watch them run to the gate to greet us and to hear their little cries of hello and goodbye.

We’re big fans of these fellas over here, I can tell you that!
