Five Finds Friday (boots, of course, and pretty drinks and a book update)

We started school this week!

And yes, it felt pretty odd to only have FOUR students at Wildwood’s first day.

Five Finds Friday

funny

Lately Piper and I have been laughing together a lot. Which is a nice thing because being the youngest teenager at our house, sometimes there’s less laughing and more …. NOT laughing. If you catch what I’m saying.

We’ve been playing Sudoku before bed each night. We’re kind of average at it but I still love doing it with her.

Our family attended a local event recently and Piper and her friend decided to roll the dice and get their faces painted.

That was a little funny too.

fashionable

I’m back to thinking about boots.

And I want these Frye boots.

Or these.

I mean, in a perfect world, BOTH.

I asked you guys on the internets about your thoughts on where to find these beauties on sale. You guys gave me loads of ideas – Poshmark and E-Bay and 6 pm and Zulily and Zappos.

All of which are great ideas. And all of which primarily feature cute little sweet size 5s and 6s.

So I’m back to not seeing any place to purchase these guys except for FULL RIDICULOUS PRICE on the Frye website.

(Remember my $12 Goodwill finds?) I guess two times with that sort of luck is too much to expect.

flavorful

London is learning all sorts of tricks of the trade at her new gig.

Making drinks look fun has been a cool benefit.

The secret here to the layering of colors?

When you are pouring in the second color, pour it into the cup across the back of a spoon so it doesn’t directly hit the liquid already inside.

Adding an umbrella doesn’t hurt!

faithful

Otto went to camp for the first time last week.

He wasn’t really nervous because he was attending with so many of his buddies.

I’m so thankful my kids love their youth group. So grateful for leaders who guide my kids and laugh with them and love them.

Thankful to let my son have a delightful and sweet and memorable first camp experience.

feels

I’m still typing away on that book. (It’s why there have been fewer posts this summer. Apparently publishers want new material so I have to save it for the book!)

Some weeks the writing feels almost inspired. Some weeks it feels like pushing a wheelbarrow of manure up hill on a summer day.

My motivation has for sure been my scheduled meetings with Ruth – editor, writing coach and encourager extraordinaire.

I sent her some new material last week and her response absolutely made my day.

So. I don’t know.

But let’s see what happens.
