five finds friday (long weeks, podcasts, fresh flowers)
It’s been one of the more hectic weeks at our house in recent history.
Can’t even recall exactly why.
Also, this week we must have set some record with terrible customer service – from the UPS guy who ranted at my fourteen year old daughter and literally said the words, “You order too much” to the Wal-Mart employee who would actually not get off the floor from the sorting task she was doing to help ring up my purchase.
Also. My computer charger died. That’s an annoying (and expensive) problem that has to be solved sooner than later. Ugh.
But the weekend is practically here and it’s time to choose our Christmas tree and decorate it with our sweet collection of ornaments that tell our family’s history and my dad is in town and all that has to equal something better than poor customer service – am I right?
funny
I’ve been accused lately of forgetting things. Forgetting things I say or things I do. More than once I have said to a friend something like this – “Oh – those earrings are pretty.” To which they replied – “You bought them for me.”
Oops.
So maybe I already told you – but the TV show The Kids Are Alright is ridiculously funny. Like – I keep laughing out loud and wanting to go back to hear what they said again in case I missed anything while I was laughing.
fashionable
Noonday has got some good stuff out this season.
Like these earrings.
flavorful
Yeah, Thanksgiving is over. But homemade creamed corn is here to stay.
Why would you add unnecessary heavy cream to corn?
Because you can.
This is delicious. See ya’ later corny cornbread. (Sorry, Momma.)
faithful
There are a thousand things we love about Lost Valley Ranch.
But the thread that pulls it all together is the impeccable hospitality the people at the ranch show. And I believe that what lies underneath the generosity and graciousness, the servant spirit of the ranch and its staff is a love of Jesus.
Recently I saw that the CEO, CFO ? I don’t know which letters, was the guest on a podcast. And if it’s about Lost Valley, I’m interested.
It’s a good listen.
Tony Warnock Is the real deal.
feels
You know what I started doing a few weeks ago?
Including fresh flowers in my grocery “budget”.
It’s absolutely and completely one hundred percent worth the $4.99 or so that these flowers cost each week.
I look forward to deciding what color or arrangement to go with and all week I love seeing them on my kitchen table. Sometimes the bouquet has enough flowers that I put some in several vases through the house. It’s happy. And that’s good.
