They’re all beautiful – the ombre zipper pouch and the throw blanket with wool embroidery.

But I currently am loving the library tote bag with leather handles. (Maybe it’s the cool fabric – or the leather handles. I heart leather touches.)

I also think it’s pretty special that they are handmade and one of a kind.

FLAVORFUL

For this year’s pre-party Friday night Mexican Night tradition I’m bringing our family’s favorite cheesy/beany dip.

(This will make two weeks in a row that my recipe came from The Pioneer Woman. Whatever. Her recipes are good.)

Ree Drummond calls it Zannie’s Black-Eyed Pea Dip.

I should probably rename it because, like all dishes associated with my name and not Ree Drummond’s name, I frequently employ the use of substitution and making do with what’s in the cabinet.

I’ve used black beans and pinto beans and pretty much whatever we have in place of the black eyed peas. It’s all blended and morphed with the cheese anyway – and the cheese is always the star of the show.

I really like this dip with Trader Joe’s Corn Dippers, which I stand strong by my assertion that the corn dippers are loads better than Fritos.

Does anyone remember Oswald Chambers My Utmost For His Highest?

For many years it was my hometown church’s go-to graduation gift. (Maybe it still is.) I still have my hight school graduation gift copy – a lot weathered from spills and twenty five years of toting it around. I no longer read it every day, but it goes in seasons for me and still – after all these years – I think Chambers has something relevant to say to me with every single entry.
