Five Finds Friday (26)

FUNNY

I was looking for a short bit of entertainment late one evening on Ye Olde Netflix.

I didn’t want to watch Fixer Upper and be reminded that I want to redecorate or to wish I lived in Waco, Texas where apparently every street corner is overflowing with homes that you can buy for $42,000 and turn them into homes that house glorious farm house sinks, shiplap on every wall and mason jars on the mantles.

I’ve watched all the Call the Midwife episodes.  I have no stomach for cop dramas or court room shows.  I had to stop watching Friday Night Lights when they let Matt Sorenson make too many bad life choices and suddenly Coach had a baby and his teenage daughter was getting on my nerves.

Then I remembered that Maggie had recommended The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

I tuned in.  As soon as I saw Tina Fey’s name associated with the show I felt comfortably safe.  I wrapped my blanket around me, opened the bag of salt and vinegar chips and got real comfortable.

You guys.  It is a very funny show.  The lead actress is hilarious with her facial expressions and delivery of her lines.  It’s pretty clean.  The references and jokes crack me up and it just has me laughing A LOT every episode.

FASHIONABLE

There’s a cute little shop in town called Goose Feathers.

They are selling this shirt.

I love it.

FLAVORFUL

Did you know that your salad tastes better with blueberries and strawberries on it?

And chia seeds and hemp hearts?  (Who discovered hemp hearts?  What are they anyway?  Why are they good for you?)

FAITHFUL

I don’t even care if this section always sounds like it is on repeat.

It kind of is.

Because it seems that God is always on repeat in this area of my life.

He keeps and continues to lift me up, to rescue me, to pull me from the pit, through the hands of my incredibly kind and generous friends.

How on earth does any one family deserve such gracious human beings in their lives?

(Well.  We don’t.  Of course we don’t.  But here we are anyway.)

It’s astounding how thoughtful people can be.  How self-sacrificing and sharing.  I can’t gather it all up or keep track of it.

But no matter how low my nights are or how faltering my thoughts can be, God keeps consistently pointing out to me the ways in which the kids and I have been sitting under an avalanche of love.

FEELS

Some magic happened this week.

Just sheer and undeniable magic.

Some sweet and selfless humans (see that FAITHFUL section above) invited the kids out for a day of playing together.  I stayed home and typed out words and edited articles and wished that every submission to a magazine would result in an acceptance letter.

When the kids returned they came back with more than just full bellies and a fun afternoon.

And I got way more than a few hours to write and work.

I can’t even stand it.

I’ve watched it on repeat late at night after the kids are all asleep.

It’s Too Much Good.  Too Much Precious.  Too Endearing and Heart Filling.  (I’ve run out of words.  There are just not enough to express my appreciation for this.)

I’m living with and around the best people I know.
