The Deal With Me & Low Cost Flights
I love a deal. And I love an adventure.
It seems I find myself talking about this website where I find both an awful lot so I figured a post about it was maybe overdue.
It’s like a clearinghouse for low-cost flight deals.
You do not purchase any tickets directly from Going.
Here’s what you do:
You create a profile and then choose a home airport.
If you want to try the free version, you can pick up to five airports.
The Premium version gives you up to ten airports.
The Elite version offers unlimited airports, mistake fare deals and first class rates.
Once you sign up, you’ll receive routine emails. (I never pay attention to how many or how often but I know I get some every week.) In these emails you will get offers for discounted tickets from any of your departure cities. For example, I’ll get an email that says flights to Denver are on sale from Charlotte. I can then click the link that takes me to the Going website where I’ll see the deals with some basic parameters – dates offered etc. Then through that link I’ll follow through to whatever airline is offering that rate – Southwest or United etc. That’s where I actually purchase the tickets.
As you’re progressing to the actual airline’s site you’ll receive the details about the specific dates and times. Sometimes the tickets are on sale for nearby dates but usually it’s a span of time anywhere from one month to nine months out so you can plan plenty in advance.
I have the Premium package and it’s $49 for the entire YEAR. That’s hard to beat. (Our Chick-fil-a order is about that price these days!)
The Elite version is $199. I honestly cannot decide if the Elite is worth it. I do think when the kids are all a bit older and doing more of their own things, I might try it then because I plan to travel more then too, but we’ll see.
I think paying for the annual Premium version is completely worth it because you have more airline departure dates and you do receive better deals. (Which is why I wonder if the Elite would be even better deals!)
This week I have received emails with flights to Denver for $136! I’ve purchased tickets to Calgary for under $200 each, flights to London and flights to Paris for really fair rates all well under $500 when international flights are frequently over $1,000 each!
Of course, the down side is – I want to travel everywhere all the time. Seeing those deals come through my inbox always has me eager to go on an adventure and that can be a dangerous thing for my bank account, deal or no deal.
Going is definitely better if you are a flexible traveler. The best way to utilize this website is to keep an eye out for deals and plan your trips according to what and where is on sale. But sometimes the dates and places line up exactly with what you already need too.
One benefit of having multiple departure cities is you can find great deals from other places that might either be worth the drive to fly out of or you might find a cheap connecting flight to that cheaper city that keeps the cost low too.
If you want to sign up – use this link. (Because I get a reward for you using my link – and I love travel rewards!)
