Oh hi. It’s me.

To quote Taylor Swift and every IG reel and every teenage girl and shoot, most all humans lately – It’s me. Hi. I’m the problem.

I like to sigh and roll my eyes and tease my kids, particularly one dear son, about his high levels of distractions, but honestly – I am no different.

I have to make lists with sub points and lists of their own and still I just sometimes ignore those lists.

We’re flying through this school year – Bergen’s SENIOR year – and I cannot keep him from gaining inches (he’s STILL growing) and I cannot stop the days from slipping right by.

We slipped away for an early morning mountain viewing a few weeks ago. Me and Bergen and two friends. It was lovely and cold and early and the fog was heavy and the rain was coming down, but what a beautiful little slice of a morning it was.

The countdown is on for London coming home from college for Thanksgiving break. I still cannot believe that HALF of my children have graduated from high school already and entering new seasons is just so surreal. You struggle so long to figure out how to live in a new season, just in time for the season to shift again.

This weekend is rainy and cold and I have a stack of books that I cannot wait to delve into and that is my entire plan. That and a list of chores and I should probably tackle and some holiday planning because you cannot leave that to chance when you live with five teenagers.

It’s nice to be back in this space.

My comment section has been exclusively full of spam for way too long – let’s all change that and share what our rainy weekends are full of or what season you’re in right now or something holiday-happy you’re looking forward to.

Let’s bring blogging back, shall we? I miss it.

I missed this over the weekend because..it was a Very Busy Weekend! Right now, though, I am snuggled under my weighted blanket listening to my husband breathe, the hum of the sound machine in the baby’s room, the ticking of the clocks, and the pages turning in Jasmine’s bedroom.
I love cold bedrooms and heavy blankets. I love busy weekends filled with people and I love my quiet home after all the kiddos are sleeping (or reading😏)

It was fun to read the comments. Bring back blogging!

Oh I love seeing your name come back up again. I cannot agree on the weighted blankets. Mosely loves them. I feel TRAPPED.
But I do adore the quiet after a busy time and the peaceful evening. It’s why I stay up TOO late always.

It snowed here. Need I say more?
But it was 70 a few days ago, so I should really just be quiet and be thankful that we actually had a lovely fall season, which isn’t typical.
The weekend has been nice – a little work, a little time with friends, a little baking and a few chores interspersed between. Plus an auction that was great for people watching!
I’m definitely on team being back blogging!

We decided to patch the cracks in the old plaster and move towards painting the dining room today. We’ve lived in the house for nearly five years and never touched that room because we always hoped to be able to fix some big foundation issues in there. (not gonna happen) When the kiddos are young, and you and your spouse have no money and no experience, house projects can literally take years to get going. I’m glad that we’re finally going to be able to have a Christmas party with a nice looking dining room this year.

      That’s a productive weekend!!
And yes – housing projects always take so long. If they ever happen. I still have sharpie on the ceiling I thought I’d fix – three years ago.

You’ve inspired me! I’m going to get my blog fired up. I miss this format, and I want to share a favorite of mine, Grace and Hudson. She’s a jewelry designer in Charleston. Hopefully she’ll inspire you like you have me. Happy Sunday friend!

Slept in because I got to be at 3am after traveling as “Band Assistant” (aka. Director of Performing Arts) to the state playoffs. I too have a senior and one off at college and a 16 who keeps getting taller. Parenting adults is hard – why did no on warn me about this?!

yesterday day was our anniversary so we just rambled all day then had dinner downtown, and tonight we have a Friendsgiving dinner!

Right now my plans don’t go beyond waiting (with coffee) for the fog to lift so I can see the seasonal waterfall across the valley. Maybe then I’ll consult the 2-3 lists I keep scattered around the house!

    • laceykeigley

I am a little jealous that you can see a seasonal waterfall from your porch.
But – I’m on my porch with hot tea and lovely little Paris Mountain, so I won’t complain.

House projects and a best friend hang is my weekend. Hoping the rain moves on because I’ve got some spray painting to do!

Definitely bring blogging back! Just not the “novels” people write on recipe posts, lol…I just want to make the darn scones, haha!
It’s my bday weekend, so enjoying homemade gf blueberry muffins & chai tea followed by exploring a couple used book & antique stores and lunch of my fave salad at Upcountry Bakery. Hoping to rent Where The Crawdads Sing to round out the evening and maybe do a little online Christmas shopping.
And I have a Senior too…what a crazy feeling to know it’s his last year with us, and how fast it’s all going by!! ❤️

    • laceykeigley

AMEN – give me the recipe AT THE TOP people. I’ll read your quirky story later while I eat the cookies.

      Happy Birthday Weekend!!!!

Is your fave Upcountry salad mine too? The warm bacon salad!!

Ohh- I want to see that movie but really enjoyed the book and am afraid the comparison will not be great. Tell me what you think.

These seniors – filling us up and making us sad all day long.
