Five Finds Friday (meatballs, Scrabble, really odd names for kids)
Am I still here?
Do Fridays still exist without this list?
Well, yeah. They do.
All of life feels just rapid speed and kind of slow motion simultaneously.
But we’re all still here. Trudging through the two worst months of homeschool every year – January and February.
funny
This week I received this text from my oldest daughter.
fashionable
I know this sweatshirt has a fish on it.
And I know it’s difficult to see this in the photo.
However.
This fish sweatshirt at a local shop in my town is not just any sweatshirt. It’s designed for women to wear with leggings. It is LONG. Long enough to cover all the assets I’d rather not reveal.
So you get all that cozy sweatshirt vibe without any of the hey I’m too old for my bum to be hanging out in these leggings vibe.
I haven’t purchased it yet because dollars.
But I love it.
flavorful
London and Mosley and I just wrapped up a (mostly) Whole 30 month.
It wasn’t too bad.
We discovered these delicious and easy Instant Pot meatballs. I’m definitely going to serve them again.
faithful
The other day I asked a question on Facebook.
I requested friends to share their favorite encouraging verses, the words they went to most often when looking for hope.
People had SO many. I think nearly 100 comments contained words of hope, verses of peace, scripture to cling to and to hold on to.
It took just an hour or so for that message thread to be full.
God can use all things, even Facebook.
And we just have to ask.

You know what’s fun?
Having a kid who actually enjoys playing Scrabble.
I hoped maybe one of my kids eventually would.
I am a little surprised that it’s Otto who loves it.
What’s even more surprising?
He’s ten and this weekend he legitimately beat London, Bergen and ME in a Scrabble game.

Make sure all tiles are turned over and mix the pile of tiles well. Each player draws 7 tiles. (It works best to put 2 or 3 games of tiles together if you have several players.) Each player will make their own independent puzzle with their tiles. The rest of the tiles become the draw pile. When each player has drawn their 7 tiles someone says go and everyone turns over their tiles and begins forming their puzzle. Once a player has made words using all of their tiles they say “take one” and all players have to draw another tile to add to their pile. Play continues until all tiles have been drawn and the winner is the first one to use all their tiles to make words.
You can keep score if you choose with the winner having the highest score or just play each hand for fun. The official rules of the game apply as to which words are acceptable to use. Ex: No names, abbreviations, etc.
Try it! Hope y’all like it as well as we do and let me know if you have any questions!

I think that’s exactly how we play bananagrams!

Do y’all ever play “Take One” with the Scrabble tiles? This has become tradition and is the game some of my sisters and I play at every Christmas get together. It simplifies the game and goes quicker so we can play more times in one setting. I’ll explain it if you haven’t so y’all can try it.

No – I haven’t heard of this! Sound fun.
London prefers bananagrams to Scrabble – maybe that’s similar!
