I don’t have a pocket to place this bit.
How are we all supposed to live with the stuff we said?
The things we promised but didn’t follow through?
The bits like this, said in my own voice at my own wedding —-
For better or for worse.
Until death do us part.
Where you go, I will go.
Your people will be my people.
May the Lord deal with me
be it ever so severely
if anything but death separates you and I.

I spent many a car ride, many a shower singing these words out at the top of my lungs during my parents divorce when I was a freshman in college. I still can feel those same emotions each time I hear the music begin.

Oh Amanda – you just took me on a trip down memory lane.
I used to love Cindy Morgan actually but had completely forgotten about her!
And isn’t it the oddest thing how a song can take you right to the feelings you used to feel so strongly?

That is the answer I was searching for:
Unanswerable.
In this day, this culture we don’t love “unanswerables.”
We like to search, research, learn, study and do studies.
It’s just not good enough to say “I don’t know.”
And so “unanswerable” is incredibly depressing without the following phrase:
This side of Heaven!
And then. even in the midst of this sadness. this hurt. this unimaginable pain.
There is joy!
This side of heaven, people!
There’s another side to this life and oh! May the waiting not be long!

Friend.
I do not know.
We may never know.
This side of heaven.
Goodness.
It is a heavy load, isn’t it?
I’m with you.
Love to you, today.

I do think you are right – this side of heaven – it’s probably unanswerable.
Love to you too!
