If ever there was a game that I thought looked too silly to play, it was Gigamons.

If ever there was a game that I thought had directions too many, it was Gigamons.

If ever there was game that was nearly an INSTANT hit with my children, it was Gigamons.

Otto has carried it around.  He has taught nearly all of his friends to play it.  He has memorized those at-first-glance-too-wordy-for-me directions.  London has been creating a miniature felted figure based on the Gigamons board piece.  (Hey, Blue Orange games – we’ve got  a prototype for you.  We think it would be popular.  It’s so adorable.)

I admit it.

I was wrong.

After a few rounds I have totally adapted to the directions.

I wish more than four people could play it, but that’s alright.

And you know what, I am probably not the game’s target audience, but I like it a lot now.  More importantly, of course, the kids (and their friends) like the game a lot too.

The game box itself is cute and fits nicely on the shelf.  (That matters, doesn’t it friends?)  We’ve kept ours in the living room and it gets played with lots so far.

Gigamons is primarily a memory game – think classic Memory but with a far more interesting twist.  There are characters that each have various powers, giving you sneak peeks or a wild card or extra tokens and the chance to block a card to save it for yourself.

Game play doesn’t take too long – maybe about 15 minutes per round.  Set up is not involved at all and the game is ready to go in matter of minutes – especially after you understand the directions.

It is a fun little game, and one I might have missed out on because of my assumptions.

I’m grateful it arrived at our door for us to give it a try.  I love partnering with the Blue Orange company to try out their games.  It’s been like a little holiday whenever the games arrive in the mail.  (I received this game at a free or discounted rate in order to give it an unbiased review.)
