HomeLife

just run on sentences and nonsense over here.

Some nights your internet goes out for about seven hours due to some “scheduled outage in your area”.

Some nights you stay up far too late (just like in your college days) chatting with an old friend.

Some days your words are a little too used up and your jokes are a little too inappropriate and you just shut the screen down and walk away, no post for the day, and accept it for what it is.

Some nights your eyes close for too many minutes in between the sentences.

Those are the perfect times for random blog entries of bits and flotsam and maybe this post would best be read with Pink Floyd playing softly in the background.

(Except I only can recall one Pink Floyd song and I can honestly say I have no idea why that band is the one I chose to reference.)

Uh-oh you guys.

This feels like a rambling beginning with no ending and very little cohesiveness.

You’ve been warned.

Speaking of bands, I saw that the Avett Brothers are releasing a new album soon and that makes me happy.  My playlist is in dire need of some fresh sound.

This weather has me all like – shut down the school and stay outside all.day.long.

It also has me starting three painting projects.  And not quite finishing any.  It’s all teal and red for me right now.  Those are my colors.  If I end up pleased with the final product, I’ll share it with you.  Eh.  I’m sure I’ll share it with you even if they turn out lame.

So far I’m three batches of strawberry jam into the season.  They look so pretty all lined up on my counter.  If I could hug glass jars of jam, I would.

I’m so sick and tired of my pictures being all lopsided and upside down when you view the blog on your phone.  Quick poll, friends.  On my computer, nothing is upside down.  But on a phone – half of them are.  Would you please let me know in the comments if you see the photos upside down on your computer or just on your phone.  Thanks so much.  (I am meeting with a buddy this week for some blog tech support and I am crossing my fingers and chanting and waving sticks in the air that he can help me figure out my situation.)

Have you ever tried the dark chocolate mints at Trader Joe’s?  Man.  I never even knew they existed until this weekend.  They are so delicious.  Not quite as good as my sister-in-law’s homemade peppermint patties.  But when holiday season is SO far away, these little mints help the waiting to be much sweeter.

Now I’m still sleepy, but I am sort of hungry too.

Let’s give a thumbs up to sunshine and chocolate mint and late night conversations.

This reply may be a little late coming, but I did want to let you know about the pictures. I usually read your blog on my iPad and the pictures are sideways and upside down. After reading this post, I decided that I was going to check to see what they looked like on my computer. I’m just now getting to that. As far as I can tell, When I’m on the computer, the pictures are correct. That’s strange how they appear differently from one device to another.

Thanks for letting me know – it’s super frustrating to me. I’m not sure if it’s an update problem on my end or what but it seems to be not fixable. 🙁 (Well. Not fixable by me.)

The photo attached to the post for Bergen’s birthday is upside down on my computer (when I go straight to your blog) and also upside down on the Facebook link to said post.

Are you talking about the honey mints? If so, I LOVE them!! I keep them in the freezer and they are a perfect, I need something sweet, treat. The pictures look great to me. Do you reuse your jar lids for canning or is that freezer jam? I’ve often wanted to try reusing the lids but wasn’t sure if the seal would hold.

      Let’s talk mints first.
Not the honey mints – should I look into those?
These are moralize peppermint patties or giant junior mints. But I put them in the freezer today too and they are fabulous.

      And now jam.
This is freezer jam so the lids don’t matter. I don’t trust my canning skills and I love the texture of freezer jam best.

Ok. I’ll have to look those mints up. But yes, try the honey mints, in a little yellow stand-up bag. Just honey, peppermint extract, and chocolate liqour. They are really yummy and I don’t feel bad about them.
And that’s really weird about the photos because they’ve always looked fine on my computer.

I’m so gla dot hear – I wonder what the deal is with these photos.

And – I’ll look for this mints next time. Every Trader Joe’s is a little bit different I think.
