Five Finds Friday (21) (strawberry suggestions, a hilarious video, great shoes and a movie review)
FUNNY
Tripp and Tyler have a new video.
It’s very funny – because it’s kind of true sort of.
(Also – there’s a great cameo in there by a surprise celebrity!) (Another also. What does it say about me that I have zero point of reference for who Rayvon Owen is? As in – I have never heard his name before.)
Anyway. You should watch it because you will laugh. And I don’t know any day that couldn’t be made better with more laughter. (I’m particularly fond of Tyler’s very deep v-neck and the name of the client on the phone in the last shot.)
FASHIONABLE
In our family we sometimes get attached to a certain shoe brand. (There’s a lot of feet here, you guys. So – we have experience in shoes, okay?)
Hands down, the best rain boots/muck boots we have ever run across are a brand called Bogs.
They have a version – I think they are their insulated series – that have neoprene on the top and rubber on the bottom and they are comfortable, they last through several kids over several years and still look great and they have open handles at the top to make it oh so easy for small hands to pull them on.
They retail for about $65 and – with all those aforementioned feet tromping around these here parts – that’s a price too high for this family’s budget.
But guess what?
Last week they were not only on sale at REI, but we had our dividend to pair with the sale and Piper walked out of the store with her first pair of Bogs for a steal. (Not a real steal, Dad – in case you’re reading. I know how you get worried about my moral code. It’s still intact – I promise.)
FLAVORFUL
It’s almost-just-about-nearly strawberry season in my neck of the woods.
Goodness – is there any fruit that is just naturally prettier than a ripe strawberry?
I always make strawberry jam – it’s my jam.
But I want to venture into more strawberry sensations.
What is your favorite seasonal strawberry recipe?
FAITHFUL
I’m so excited about my new partnership with KOA that we are working on together for some big plans for this summer.
Soon I’ll have this cute yellow image on the sidebar and I’ll have lots more to share.
But – honestly – this idea with KOA – coupled with a few other opportunities upcoming, are just more kindnesses of God to show my family provision and care during a season of loss and uncertainty.
Yes. Even campgrounds and blog posts can be a kind of holy ground. (Everything is spiritual.)
FEELS
I watched a movie this week. (The house was so quiet. All the kids were sleeping. Ryder and I had the living room to ourselves and all the chocolate cake we could handle. Me, not Ryder. Although I remain unconvinced that chocolate really will hurt dogs. I once watched Ringo consume a gigantic chocolate bar and that dog remained indestructible.)
After a great recommendation, I watched The Intern.
Guys, there are SO many really terrible movies being made right now. Like – recklessly, shamefully awful films.
The Intern was NOT that. It was entertaining – which we all want from a late night film. It was charming. It was clever. It was sweet and funny and unusual. It did NOT contain so much skin and sex that it hurts your eyes. In fact, there was none really. They threw the F word in there once – I think to get the prized PG-13 rating. I can’t even recall any other cuss words, but maybe there was one or two. Robert DeNiro was amusing and engaging and appropriate. The relationships between the main characters were uplifting, bettering both one another and the viewer. There was redemption and hope for marriage and praise for hard work and not accepting bad behavior as the only choice and value placed on people of all ages.
Really – I smiled through most of the film and I wouldn’t mind at all re-watching this film and I rarely feel that way about movies.

Spinach. Sliced strawberries. Parmesan cheese. Chicken (if you have it) -yummiest pan fried with rosemary and butter or olive oil or whatever herbs and stuff you want
Toss all together into a salad and make a dressing out of equal parts olive oil and balsamic or red wine vinegar, Couple dashes of italian seasoning/basil/rosemary ..whatever you like… And I add a bit of stevia to dressing.
Yum!

Strawberry shortcake like my mama made it – Bisquick with sliced strawberries, sprinkled sugar, and milk poured over – maybe a little whipped cream too.
Alicia
Bisquick shortcakes, that is. The recipe used to be on the name brand box. I think it might still be.

That’s the kind my momma made too!
