Meeting Maddox
I woke Saturday morning and glanced at my phone.
Like 14 missed calls and 13 texts and oops – I guess I should have stayed awake all night or something.
Riley – our oldest daughter – was letting me know she was on the way to the hospital to give birth to her baby.
Yes. To give birth to a baby!
(It’s shocking to think of myself as a grandmother so I plan to do my best to make this post about Riley and not about how I cannot possibly be grandmother age.)
We arrived at the hospital literally as she was delivering the little fellow so our timing was perfect.
Maddox Pierce.
Miniature wide-awake eyes and itty bitty pursed lips and just as cuddly as newborns should be.
A sweet healthy little man. Perfect ears and nose and fingers and toes.
An instant bevy of adoring aunts and uncles – kind of an excess really as both Riley and her husband Aaron each have five younger siblings.
Otto wants to be called Uncle O. London likes Auntie L and Mosely wants Auntie M. Bergen seems content with the classic Uncle Bergen and Piper keeps tossing out options of unknown origins – such as “Pinelle”.
The boy sure won’t lack for affection and arms to hold him as he has quite the paparazzi just in relatives alone.
Welcome to the band, little fella.

Congratulations Lacey! You will love being a grandmother, nana, gramma even if you don’t think you’re old enough! A ray of sunshine to brighten your days. (And we are awaiting our 5th grandchild any time now – our third grandson. Compliments of Anthony & Lindsey.)
