The Perplexus: A Review
We were on the road for more than 2,000 miles in March.
I try to plan a handful of little surprises along our treks to make the time spent in the car more fun for everyone inside the maroon shuttle.
When we reached the Tennessee border the kids were allowed to open a family gift.
We’ve seen it in the hands of our friends for months.
I’d never heard of this little sphere of entertainment until our friends introduced it to us.
It’s about the size of a soccer ball and it’s plastic and it’s filled with brightly colored mazes and a small metal ball to traverse those interior mazes.
Honestly, it isn’t a toy I enjoy at all.
I lack the patience and the determination to guide that oversized bb through its twists and turns.
But let me tell you what – for the kids – this gift was an absolute win.
Opened in Tennessee, the round ball was passed from hand to hand through Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York and back home again with barely a break at all.
After the trip it has found its home in the living room and is in some child’s hand at some point every day.
It’s been a good quiet toy to use during read aloud times. From Otto to London, it has been a challenge and a treat for the kids to play.
I think they’re pretty pricey and I hadn’t really wanted to pay the $25 ish dollars when I first saw the cost.
After having this little gem in our possession for the last month or so, however, I’m confident it was totally worth the price paid.
Too late for my purchase – but sometimes Hobby Lobby carries the perplexus. If you find it there you can use your weekly 40% off coupon and suddenly you’ve got a good deal on a present for your kids or your nieces or nephews.
And actually – a rather handy coincidence – when I proceeded to link this review to amazon, I noticed it is currently only $19! (Please don’t hold me responsible if that number changes by the time you click this link!)
And – I think you’re supposed to mention this in posts of this nature – and, besides, I like for you guys to know – I do not receive any money or any free game or any anything for promoting this toy. I just really liked it for our family and I thought you guys might like it too. I’m not opposed to receiving money or free items for offering my honest opinion about them – I can assure you of that. But, as of now – perplexus isn’t offering and I haven’t been receiving!
There is at least one other version too – the Epic Perplexus.
You know, we have another giant journey looming in our summer – the Prairie Journey. We might need another car entertainment device as well to pass from seat to seat.
What’s been your family’s favorite travel toy?
