swimming.

I don’t know where to start.

When I’ve been away from my computer for as long as I’ve been away here – it’s a little overwhelming to put fingers to keyboard.

I cannot possibly recap every moment of this super fleeting month of July, although I’d love to try.

I think I’ll just say the following things:

London Scout has reached the Double Digits.  Ten.  It’s too much for my heart.

I am forty.

Also too much for my heart.

Actually – that’s not true.

It’s really pretty okay.

Forty, I mean.

At least – Day Two of 40 feels fine.

My birthday was wonderful.  Expectations more than met.

You see?

There’s the struggle with summing up.

It is never enough.

It never does anything justice.

I think I’ll consider this post a slow lead in – sort of like wading into the swimming pool instead of just diving in.

(I’m not a diver.  I never jump right in.)

A few other statements:

We have a working washer and dryer.  After six months of no dryer – the towels are fluffy again.

I’d forgotten, however, that dryers shrink clothes.

The painful  irony is – the dryer/washer combo we bought used from a friend is probably older than London but appears to be working better than our fancy newer ones did.

We still don’t have our second car.  We have loaner from a rather unusually kind and long suffering friend.  (My guilt over keeping their car increases daily.)

All of our kittens have found lovely homes.

I’ve spent at least thirteen of the past twenty-four days with limited or no access to Facebook.

Wonderfully – I have not missed it at all.

I don’t know who ate where and whose kid said what and I haven’t seen any photos of new outfits, rainbows or beloved dogs.

And I’m not feeling left out or behind.

I think I’ll be alright.

I’m hoping it’s a new trend for me.

I’m painfully unprepared to begin another school year just yet.

Although I have ordered a new and inspiring planner.

See?

It’s too hard to cover lots.

I think by trying I’ve just covered nothing.

But such as it is – here it is.

Tomorrow I’ll try to walk slowly over to the deep end.

But I’m not promising I’ll get my hair wet.

It is hard to write a blog post to sum up summer! I'm coming out of my typical creeper state to say YES to how good it feels to be on facebook less – I'm staying completely logged off during the day and it has been a wonderful change! I can't get rid of it completely since I use it for networking with photography, church, co-op, etc., but I hope to get it down to where I'm only on like 5 minutes a day – working on it!

      I\’m so glad you commented!

And it is pretty exciting about Facebook.

      Let\’s make it a trend!

Happy birthday!! Yay for the dryer! Ours quit again last week. Miraculously, after sitting a few days and flipping the breaker switch a few times, it came back to life. I would love to know what planner you bought; I am an organizational nerd and am embarking on homeschool preschool this fall 🙂

The planner is called The Ultimate Homeschool Planner by Debra Bell.

My friend loves The Well-Planned Day planner.

I picked mine only because it had space for six kids so you might enjoy either one.

Thanks! I found a customizable one on Etsy from a place called Plum Paper. It was a little pricey, but I'm used to Franklin Covey planners, so… I have tried so hard to switch to a digital, but I love paper planners and Sharpie pen, I'm afraid. Plus, with venturing into homeschool the Boy, I wanted something like the teacher planner from my teacher days.

Hope you are swimming today and not drowning 🙂
