a distracted exit.
The days have been breezy beautiful.
That’s good for life but a challenge for finishing strong these last few weeks of school.
I confess –
I think I want to spend my days outside digging in earth and playing games even more than the kids want to.
Our regular schedule has been off. We’ve completely finished a few subjects – science, music appreciation, art, poetry, nature studies. Bergen’s blazed his way through his entire math curriculum. Our co-op has wrapped up for the school year.
But we’ve got a few lingering tasks and you’d think being completely finished with several areas would open up space to more diligently complete the remainder.
Instead it seems I’ve allowed the space to be filled with strawberry picking and staying up a tad later to enjoy the gloriously long sun-setting evenings and sleeping a tad later to make up for the longer night before.
It’s been pleasant. But not entirely productive.
I’m having a hard time promoting the importance of London and Mosely completing their math and all of us concluding our history. We’re only two lessons short of finishing London’s grammar book, but it is slow going.
And, honestly, we’re about to make it more complicated.
We’re leaving for the beach.
Today.
Yes, it is a disruptive week to choose I suppose.
But it’s the week that the house is available. The week that Riley can join us. The week that fits.
And so – we go.
I know that means we’ll have some school lessons to do in June. We will probably be working on math for a few more weeks.
And it will be just fine.
I’m hoping for breezy days. Not-quite-sweltering heat. Chatting with the people I like best. Seeing the waves. Visiting our favorite city, Savannah.
I’m looking forward to saying to school work and daily chores in general —
Hold, please.
