The Day After Christmas, A Catch Up Post
It was good to stay mostly far away from the computer screen for the past several days.
This long long weekend has been restful and sweet and full of blog-worthy moments.
(Of which perhaps I’ll eventually catch up. Perhaps. Perhaps yes. Perhaps no.)
The annual Christmas Eve pajamas were a hit.
Bergen has declared that he will no longer refer to pajamas as pjs. Henceforth, he says, he will call sleepwear jjs.
He offers no explanation for this name shift.
In other news, we Keigleys consumed our annual Christmas traditional dinner of Stone Soup.
(Based completely on the book – we make the recipe up as we listen to the story read out loud every year.)
And yes – of course we put a real stone in the soup.
It’s a Wyoming river rock. That makes it more authentic somehow, right?
Somehow it seems as if this should be a catch up post as well.
I always feel that way when extra days pass before my fingers tip tap type this dirty little keyboard. (I mean it – our keyboard really is filthy. How do you go about cleaning one of these anyway?)
Anywho – I feel like playing a quick game of catch up – so here’s all the things I can think of right now …..
Mosely turned nine this weekend. NINE! Can’t wait to share pictures and stories about her precious tea party celebration.
Oma and Papa Dale came for a wonderful little visit. So good to have them in our home and to just be breathing in the same chilly air together.
Speaking of chilly air – it’s been rainy and gross and none-too-warm in our house as of late but I think we’re all better prepared mentally this winter for the cold in this old house.
If all of my Christmas decorations would magically put themselves away tonight while I sleep – I’d be thrilled.
My little brother called – from New Zealand – for the first time in about five months! Hooray! So good to hear his voice.
I think Breaking Bad is a horribly depressing show with very little redemption about it. Wait – with no redemption I mean. None.
Our house was also graced with a short stop over by Uncle Nate last week. A visit with Nate is a guarantee to laugh, play Balderdash and enjoy the many years of good friendship together.
Finally saw The Hobbit with some good friends this weekend. I think I liked it. I hope I’ll be more impressed with Les Mis though.
I rearranged the school room.
Also watched The Nativity Story for the first time. Really liked that.
And I want to point out, despite all the TV viewing it sounds as if I have done, I finished my first George MacDonald novel. And I started a foolishly long novel that I may never finish – Anna Karenina.
I made pfeffernusse cookies and needletips, drank hot cocoa and tea, played Legos and folded laundry.
And now I think I am done playing catch up.
I want to cut out a few more music sheet garlands tonight anyway – because you can never have too many garlands.

I enjoy reading about your beautiful family. So wonderful to see that you had a good Christmas. Hannah and I saw the Hiobbit. I thought it was very entertaining. Happy New Year!
