satisfied.

Thanksgiving has passed.

I cried out for help.

You answered the call.

Thank you very much.

All in all, I think it was a pretty fabulous day of giving thanks and eating delicious food and relaxing with friends and family.

I hope yours was as well.

The day before the food feast, the kids went to work crafting personalized place mats for every member of our family, as well as our six guests.

We used supplies we had on hand – which turned out to be primarily felt – and I think the results are sweet.

We saved our own and let the guests take theirs home. We’ll definitely do this one next year.

I loved the idea that someone suggested to pull out a tablecloth and have everyone write their thanks on the cloth in sharpie.

I couldn’t find a tablecloth that fit our table the day before Thanksgiving because I only had time to stop at one store.

Instead, I picked up a table runner that served the purpose beautifully.

I’m already excited to pull it out next year.

Our friends Jeff and Laura and their two girls joined us.

Torrye shared the love with us. And my very own dad was able to make the holiday journey too!

The gravy was served in the container it traveled in – a coffee carafe. Perfect! Kept it hot and was very pourable.

We dined like royalty. Deliciousness at every elbow.

Before the big day, the kids all chose one dish they most wanted to see on the table. Which brought us both mashed regular potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes. And peas. And from-the-box Stove Top stuffing. And pomegranate seeds. (Which were such a tasty addition I think it’ll be an annual one.)

The dessert table was ridiculous.

No. Really, it was. Easily one dessert per every adult. We couldn’t cram it all in. Although we tried.

Which wore some of us out more than others.

The day’s weather was so splendidly mild that our post-dinner hang out occurred outdoors, around the fire pit.

Some smoking pipes. Some cigars. Some just breathing the fine fall air.

I don’t know if this one was satisfied or not. (She’s a mystery sometimes.)

But I can tell you this – I sure was.

Thanksgiving day turned out to be, what for me, was quite extraordinary – a holiday where my expectations were satisfied.

More than, actually.
