six flags over georgia.
Summer reading programs abound.
In fact, I often lose track of them. Suddenly it’s September and I realize that I missed out on the chance to get three free books from Barnes & Noble.
Six Flags offers a year-long reading program that we took advantage of last school year.
For reading the required number of books, each child receives a free ticket (and one teacher ticket too!) to the Six Flags amusement park of your choice.
We chose Georgia.
And yesterday.
Thanks to my kind friends Hannah and LIndsey, Otto and PIper were well cared for all day so that they did not have to wait in long line and endure the heat.
Kevin was on a business trip and was super disappointed to miss out on the fun but the tickets expire this weekend so we had to seize the opportunity.
It was so much fun to just have London, Mosely and Bergen all to myself.
We laughed and waited in lines and drove cars and gawked at $6 Slurpees and consumed copious amounts of water and walked and walked and walked.
We rode every water ride available.
I tried to take photos – but those kids were not into serious photos.
They had such a great time too. Seriously – not an ounce of complaining all day.
And do you know who has boundless energy ever-flowing from his body?
Who never tired and continually wanted to ride just one more?
Who was brave enough to conquer a roller coaster?
Who would still hold my hand and ask to sit beside me and smile for every photo we took?
My boy. Hawkeye.
I think Thunder River was everyone’s favorite.
Mosely sat out the roller coaster ride – so I graciously sat out with her. (I’m too old for loop de loops and free falls, I tell you.)
It was a rare and enjoyable treat to be the “cool” parent.
To take adventures and buy cotton candy (whcih was considerable cheaper than the Slurpee).
To have no other agenda than laughter and following the road in front of us.

We participated in the Six Flag program when I was London's age. Thunder River was my favorite, too–but Jess hated it. (She was the only person in the boat to get wet–and she got DRENCHED.) Looks like you guys had a blast!

Ahhhh – homeschoolers love those free reading things!
Berg wanted to get more wet on Thunder River. But that\’s the difference between boys and girls.

Haha. I guess it depends on which kid you ask and on which day you ask.
