We had one and it was great! 🙂

    ELOB: Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound.
The classroom arm of Outward Bound. THey started a charter school in Bryson, near Deep Creek. All the "river rats" from the Natty went there 😉

Indeed, we did. Went to WCU, bryan stuck around for his masters there. (i taught at an ELOB school in Bryson City) In Sylva, there was an old house that had the best little bookstore upstairs, and a coffeeshop with music Friday and Saturday downstairs. Best thing, ever. the bookstore is there, but the downstairs changed hands to become a restaurant, but I *think* it's back to a coffeeshop?
Bryan loves Robert Morgan. I like him, too, but Bryan is all over regional fiction. Ron Rash taught at WCU while we were there, and I have one of his books, but sadly haven't read it 🙁

blogging instead of reading Robert Morgan? For shame! Bryan loves him. When we lived in the mountains (Sylva, NC) he did some readings at our favorite place in the world, City Lights. Whatcha reading?

      You lived in Sylva?

      This I didn't know.
      What is City Lights?

I'm reading This Rock. I read Gap Creek a while ago and really liked it. It's so much fun to hear him mention our town here or nearby areas that we know.

Do you (or your husband) like Ron Rash too?

I LOVE Robert Morgan's novels. I've read This Rock, Gap Creek, and The Truest Pleasure. He was a guest lecturer in an Appalachian Lit class at NGU last spring. It was such a treat to hear him talk about growing up in this area.

Oh – The Truest Pleasure – I'll have to get that next.

And if he ever speaks again at NGU – or if anyone exciting does – please let me know! I'd love to hear him!
