Can I Get A Drumroll?
Oh my goodness.
I am so excited to be back.
I can guarantee that I am way more excited to be back writing the blog than you are to be back reading the blog.
I will try to restrain my use of capital letters, exclamation points and the bold and italics feature on the keyboard.
I said, I’ll try. Okay?
I have, like, a bazillion ideas about which to converse. Or monologue.
It has been so long since I sat down at this blog, in fact, that I had forgotten my own password.
Our internet connection was restored today and I was both elated and downcast.
Elated because I really have missed writing and I have so many fun house details I want to share.
Elated because I can finally finish that Mr. Popper’s Penguin’s project the kids and I are doing through an online site.
(I know, I have a little intelligent phone but long-term reading on that screen is no fun for me.)
Downcast because I know I was accomplishing so much more with my days sans the distraction of pinterest and facebook and other people’s blogs.
Elated to be able to pay that Verizon bill online.
(My password is saved on our computer and I had forgotten it so I was just biding my time. And “elated” to pay a bill is actually a misstatement. A “misstatement” is actually a lie.)
At any rate.
Let me just say – I’m glad to be back.
And now can I show you some pictures of our bathroom?
I have realized that I am doing a pretty terrible job of documenting the before.
Which is a shame.
Because the before shots make the after shots look so much more dramatic.
We have one full bathroom and it is downstairs.
This is a poor picture of it from when we first arrived at the house.
Yes, that is a trash bag taped to the window.
The window inside the shower.
That was a simple fix.
Lowe’s sells this easy-peasy window tint that sprays on like paint and provides privacy.
A far superior look than a trash bag and duct tape.
Here’s another pre-shot at a weird angle with the shower curtain down.
Please note the wall paper and clap with me as it is covered with blue paint.
Paint was really all this room needed, actually.
I have been continually impressed by the power of paint to shape up a space.
Ta-da. This is the after.
Kevin installed a shelf over the toilet that had been there before but had been taken off to repair the tiles.
He pulled the legs off the shelf because they had such bad water damage but the upper part was in decent shape and we really needed the extra storage areas.
I think it turned out way better than I expected.
I just love the color red and I think old things are cool.
The little tin on the bottom right of the shelf was my mom’s lunch pail growing up.
It’s home to the kids’ toothbrushes and rinsing cup.
I stashed mine and Kevin’s toothbrushes in the mug up high because I don’t care for sharing my inch of toothbrush bristles with tiny mouths.
The his and hers hand towels are hand embroidered and belonged to my grandparents.
The candle is scented lemon verbena and everyone should have that scent in their lives. It’s fabulous.
And the book Kevin picked up at the thrift store the other day. It’s by David Sedaris and it’s inappropriately hilarious.
That, my friends, concludes the tour of the bathroom at our new home.
(We’re in the process of deciding a name for this house. We have a few ideas on the table.)
I feel I am showing incredible will power to step away from the keyboard and end this post right now.
Let me just add – thank you for coming back after my long absence.
Tomorrow I plan to be diligent about not caving in to the pressure to waste time online during the day.
And then I plan on rewarding my diligence tomorrow evening by typing another post.

Ihave missed you! I deboned a chicken last week, prayed for you and thought, "I miss Lacey. Oh, but she doesn't have Internet until Friday. Sad!"
Lemon is my all time favorite scent, even mixed with other things.
I am glad you are back!

Hooray! So glad you are in and connected once again. Love the bathroom. The pops of red are always a favorite part of any room. So cute : )!!

I love it all, and not at all surprised that David Sedaris would pop up in the bathroom. 🙂 Congrats on reconnecting with the World!

I love it! I don't think you should just name the house. I think you should name every room in the house, you guys being so good at names and all.
