a list. a distraction.
Six children. Two adults.
Our house is full of people.
With different opinions and changing moods.
I thought I’d make a little list today to gage where the Keigley family members currently stand on a few non-essential topics.
(Because I like lists.)
Favorite Kid Television Show: Wild Kratts. (There might be some addiction to this show at our house. And Berg has begun calling all of his siblings “bro”, even the girls.)
Most Frequently Requested Meal: Mac & Meat. (A throwback to my family growing up. Imagine homemade hamburger help and you’d be pretty close. Not exactly an inspiring dish.)
Average Wake Up Time For the Kids: 8:00 a.m. (Excluding Riley, who has to rise & shine much earlier than the rest to head off to school.)
Weekly Number of Trips to the Grocery Store: Usually one. But sometimes a second stop is in order if my lists fail me.
Number of Times A Day I Debate the Pros and Cons of Purchasing an iPhone versus an iPad: Probably about 32. Or basically, too often. Just ask Kevin.
Frequency With Which Riley Attempts to Borrow My Clothing at a Ridiculously Early Hour: Every morning.
The Kids’ Favorite Feature of Dad’s Office: The endlessly full bowl of Nerds sitting on the counter of Kevin’s desk. (Otto has acquired an irresistible habit of knocking on the door, entering with a grin and using sign language to ask for more and more and more and more Nerds.)
Cutest Word Wilder Says Right Now: Ball. Pronounced “baugh-awww”.
Last Movie Seen in a Theatre on Date Night: The Fighter.
Most Recent Distraction to Completing This Particular Blog Post: Otto discovering the stash of scissors and gleefully slicing the air all around him. The air which hovers dangerously close to his tiny appendages.
List of Activities I Should Be Pursuing Right Now Instead of Writing This: Taking a shower. Cleaning up the cereal bowls at the breakfast table. Teaching phonics to my children. Storing the family’s odd assortment of scissors in a safer location. Controlling the argument I hear escalating in the children’s bedrooms.
Tell me,
what should you be doing now instead of reading this?

preparing school for next week.
and, it's sunny and warm today. so i should be aiding in the rise of serotonin levels this brain of mine needs after a long winter, by enjoying some sunshine.

Love the Ipad. But its not like totable. So if it wasnt for the boys, I would do the Iphone. I am currently feeding Isiah beans while typing this.
LaceyKeigley
Not totable? I thought its small size would make it perfectly totable.
That was one of the appealing features to me.
Hmmm.
Interesting.

I should be making applesauce for Eliot out of the apples have been sitting on my counter for three days getting soft. If I don't do it, he doesn't eat tonight because I never buy enough baby food.
LaceyKeigley
Oh – I always felt as if I never bought enough food because I always had such high hopes of making it all myself.
Which is why my babies ate loads of sweet potatoes and bananas – just sooo easy.

A fresh start! Sounds brave to me. 🙂 I just spent some time praying for you, that you would relentlessly seek and fight for truth, that you would have courage and patience and JOY. 🙂

Downtown Greenville.
Maybe all downtowns are required to have such a fountain.

Okay. I have to ask. Is that picture from the water fountain in downtown Charleston, SC? It sure looks like it!!!

i like your list. 🙂 watch out for the scissors…
and my answer on your question: i should be reading papers on apraxia of speech and papers on aphasia. and getting started with my own 25-pages-paper that is due in 6 weeks. and getting started with another 25-pages-paper that needs to be turned in in about 8 weeks… :-/
LaceyKeigley
That is the issue exactly.
I mean, won't an iPhone4 with some problems still be way better than the phone I currently have? So why wait until July for that? Plus, it may not even be July – it may be later.
Seriously – I think about this far too often.
It's ridiculous.

mostly i am just glad to know i'm not the only one continuously debating the purchase of an iphone . . . to buy or not to buy. if i buy, will i be disappointed when the iphone 5 comes out later this year? will it even come out? how long is long enough to wait to see how the iphone actually works on the verizon network? who do i ask? who do i believe? the list goes on and on . . . it's torture really. happy day to you!
and yes, i probably should be working! ; )
