Wilder has a new skill.
It’s called Balance Standing. (Or something like that.)
He pulls to a standing position with the aid of any nearby object – ottoman, stool, leg, whatever.
And then he expertly releases his hands from their gripping position.
And balances.
(Did I mention that he isn’t even officially nine months old yet?)
In other Keigley news . . .
London has a second loose tooth – center bottom, directly beside the previous loose tooth.
Tonight she was playing her current favorite game – “doggies”. (It’s not my current favorite game because of the increased number of holes in the kness of her pants.)
At any rate.
She was playing this game tonight.
And here’s where the two stories (Wilder’s new skill and London’s loose tooth) collide.
As Dog London, she was sitting on her knees holding a stuffed toy in her mouth (Magnus-style). Wilder saw this toy as he was perched in a leaning position. Ready to move to his no-hands position, he reached first for the toy in Dog London’s mouth. Dog London assumed Standing Wilder wanted to play along so she clamped her teeth more tightly on the stuffed toy. Balancing Wilder wanted the stuffed toy so he could return to Hands-Free Wilder.
And so he yanked the toy.
Wilder wins. Toy in hand, he descended to sitting position to examine the spoils of his victory.
And London looked up, somewhat shocked.
“Mom – is my tooth still in my mouth?” she asked.
And as I approached her and saw dripping blood on her lower lip, I was pretty sure her tooth was gone.
“Uh. London? Wilder just pulled out your tooth!”
And this is just one example of how we roll – a house where a nearly nine-month-old can pull out the tooth of a six-year-old.
