In the Heart of the Country
You know how much I love Virginia.
We had this idea to share the love a little.
And so we invited some friends to trek it up a few states and experience Virginia with us.
Sadly, really truly sadly, not all of our buddies could make the journey up this time for a host of reasons.
But one family was able to drive down that gloriously long driveway with us and bask in the beauty that is The Farm.
I don’t want to gush too profusely – I love my friends who couldn’t make the journey with us too much for that.
But I will say this – it was a simply beautiful weekend.
There is no place I would have rather spent welcoming in the first day of June than on this porch on this farm in my Virginia.
What I love about this place is a long list – and a continually growing one.
The history.
The incredibly magical flicker and glow the hundreds of fireflies create against the backdrop of dark.
The silence – so strong and lovely that it feels like a physical presence.
The views.
The vast green landscapes, unbroken by homes or buildings, so easy on the eyes and restful to the soul.
The memories stacked on memories, keeping a foundation strong for more of the same opportunities.
The peace such silence and so much green allows you to experience.
The blessed forced respite from all things screen and connected and media.
The simplicity of running fast and free through a field wide and wonderful.
The green.
The blue.
The everything.

I’m glad you get to make this trip soon.
And thank you – it’s really just the heart of anyone who has grown up roaming the hills and the valleys of Franklin County.

Love this. Sharing something special with special somebodies. Connecting two parts of your heart together. Perfect.

I like that – two parts of your heart together. That’s just what it feels like.
