Friend: Five Minute Friday
It’s Friday.
I’m jumping over to Lisa-Jo’s blog and joining Five Minute Friday again.
Five minutes of writing on an assigned topic – no second-round editing.
The topic is Friend.
Go.
_____
This year marks the year my children have developed real friends.
Friends I think they will remember.
Oh yes, we’ve been blessed with buddies like cousins and relatives and the family that will be and is the ebb and flow of our relationships together for life.
(And those friendships are tight and wonderful.)
But this year seems to be the year my children have made comrades amongst their peers.
That they even have peers.
Otto has friends. He talks about them – Kate and Hanna and Gresham and Corin.
The bigger kids have friends who play games together, who write letters back and forth, who make plans and enjoy one another’s company.
It’s the start of something so lovely and simple and sweet sweet sweet to watch.
It always leaves me asking, “Can we freeze time?”
How can I keep the innocent kindness lasting into the teenage years? How can I keep the pure outside-in-the-woods together, let’s-explore-a-tree and talk about characters from novels?
_______
Stop.
Ahh – this one was harder. I really like a conclusion.

I'd love to freeze time, but we can only embrace the time we are given fully! I'm your FMF neighbor today 🙂

I remember those days. We have moved many times and my kids had to keep making new friends. For one easy, for the other exceedingly difficult. Beautiful post

Love watching kiddos start to make friends. I often want to "freeze time" too. Instead I try to store up extra moments in my heart 🙂

I love posts where mamas are looking forward and being intentional with the way that they think about their children's lives. Loved these words and loved seeing the photos of your beautiful kiddos! Dropping by to share grace from Lisa-Jo's place.
