whatcha’ got cookin’?
Sometimes I just get in a mood.
A mood to use goofy grammar in a blog title.
A mood to cook up a variety of new recipes.
A mood to not make the same meal twice all month.
Just a mood. You know?
Last week Bergen was in a mood to make our own frozen yogurt.
So we did.
I should have read the recipe through more closely.
I tend to have this habit of checking the ingredient list but not reading the instructions prior to committing to that particular recipe.
Which is what happened with the yogurt.
You had to first cook the blueberries on the stove top. And then use the food processor. And then the ice cream maker.
In February.
But we did it.
All three involved steps.
Because I love my boy.
And I love ice cream.
Even in February.
Turned out it was delicious. Though probably too involved to be a regular dessert option.
(For anyone attempting to make this yourself – right out of the ice cream maker it was completely smooth, like soft-serve frozen yogurt. After freezing the remaining yogurt it became much more like sherbert. Both were good. Just wanted you to be prepared.)
And on Saturday I got this crazy notion to make my own personal all time favorite treat – cinnamon rolls.
I’ve never attempted these delicacies.
Wasn’t sure I trusted myself with that kind of power.
Still not sure if I do.
Despite having to hand stir ten and a half cups of flour for ten minutes because a red Kitchen Aid mixer has yet to fall from the sky, it was not all that difficult of a recipe to whip together.
And, I’m not going to lie, (but I am going to use better grammar, I almost wrote “gonna”), the results were almost phenomenal.
Even Kevin, not a hardcore cinnamon roll guy, ate at least four over the last two days.
They looked pretty. They tasted pretty. I felt pretty.
Pretty awesome.
(And I think everyone liked them vicariously too. I’ve never had a more popular Facebook post than the one featuring my cinnamon rolls picture. Even more popular than adorable pictures of my offspring. What does that say about my life?)
It has become a standard question at the dinner table at our house.
“Is this meal from Pinterest?”
To which the usual response is – “yes!”
I’ll try to share some more of our favorites soon.
There’s soup and chicken taco chili and roasted veggies and oatmeal bread and granola.
I promise to share here – and if you stop by the house – I promise to share there too!

If two red mixers fall from the sky, can I pretty please have the other one?

Yes.
I solemnly promise to you now ….. if two red Kitchen Aid mixers fall from the sky and cause no harm to person or body and are still in woking order after the fall …… you can have one of them.
I promise.

thank you, my friend.

My Kitchenmaid has not appeared either! Funny.
Well, I have had both an ice cream craving AND a cinnamon roll craving in these last couple of weeks, so your pictures made my mouth water. But. I have not been as awesomely motivated as you and I instead chose to use a Christmas gift card to buy a loaf of Cinnamon Swirl Bread from Great Harvest last week and we ate it warm with frosting. Because I'm evidently not too lazy to stir up some icing. It was sufficient, but I'm sure yours was bed.
I say surviving the winter is better with delicious food.
